Nightlife Espresso
The Espresso Bar will be open daily for young people who "need" coffee, or someone to talk to. Latte's, Espresso, Smoothies, all the stuff that makes a great coffee shop, will be available. Local therapists and youth workers willing to volunteer time on a regular basis are being recruited to staff the bar. In addition to these volunteers, there will be Nightlife Staff on-site to oversee and assist volunteers and work with the youth. Sort of like how the neighborhood bar used to work for adults, young people can get advice, recommendations or just a friend to listen and help them work through an immediate issue. The set-up will be around an actual “bar” where volunteers will be stationed as “bartenders”. Stuff will be sold as a means of initiating conversation between counselors and the youth. One-on-one or group conversations will help the young people realize that they are not alone in their issues.
It will be a great place to chill with friends. Students will quickly learn that Nightlife is place where they will always feel welcome when they need someone to talk to.
